What does it mean to tithe?

Tithing is commonly understood as the giving of one-tenth of one’s income for God. This standard of giving comes from several passages in Scripture (e.g. Genesis 28:10-22). John Wesley, founder of the Wesleyan movement, challenged followers to “Render unto God, not a tenth, not a third, not half, but all that is God’s.” Read more

Giving can be hard! But “…when our first decision is one of giving, we place a greater level of trust in God. We begin by saying, “Thank you God! All that we have received is a blessing from you.” We acknowledge that we worship God and not money! …Tithing introduces spiritual discipline to our financial choices.”
